Getting Through It

One of the neatest things I found when I was clearing out my mom’s house is this little plaque.

At times we catch ourselves saying – “I’ll get through it (the tough situation) somehow,” often accompanied by a sigh or tears.

But this… this plaque is a reminder that we can triumph even in adversity because we belong to THE ONE who triumphed over death
THE ONE who gives us hope
THE ONE who never fails
THE ONE who never leaves us or forsakes us
THE ONE who holds us in the palm of His nail-scarred hands
THE ONE who leads us in triumph!

Today I thought of these wonderful old hymns written by Civilla D. Martin in 1904 and 1905

God will Take Care of You

1.       Be not dismayed whate’er betide, God will take care of you;
Beneath His wings of love abide, God will take care of you.
o    Refrain:
God will take care of you, Through every day, o’er all the way;
He will take care of you, God will take care of you.
2.       Through days of toil when heart doth fail, God will take care of you;
When dangers fierce your path assail, God will take care of you.
3.       All you may need He will provide, God will take care of you;
Nothing you ask will be denied, God will take care of you.
4.       No matter what may be the test, God will take care of you;
Lean, weary one, upon His breast, God will take care of you.
       His Eye Is On the Sparrow

1.       Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heav’n and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Refrain:
I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

2.       “Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

3.       Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

So, dear friends, today on this cloudy rainy day,
you’ll get through it – not somehow, but triumphantly – because of Jesus!

Lovingly,
Ruth
