It was much anticipated,
and when the time came it was wonderful and wacky, chaotic and loud! Laughter
and games and pool time, talking and eating – lots of eating! The house of these two long-time empty nesters
hadn’t seen so much activity in long time. For the first time in years we were all
together – at the same time and in the same place - eight adults and seven
children from Pennsylvania and Austria and Kansas.
And then it was over –
all too quickly. First to leave were Pete, Kristen and the girls from Pennsylvania. And now, today, Markus flies back to Austria,
leaving the rest of his family to follow in a couple weeks. And with each parting is the hope and
anticipation of the next family reunion. If not here, then up there and what a
day that will be! No more goodbyes, no more partings, no more longings for just
a little more time.
Hymnist Jim
Hill expressed it this way in his song, “What
a Day That Will Be.”
There is coming a day,
When no heartaches shall come,
No more clouds in the sky,
No more tears to dim the eye,
All is peace forever more,
On that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
There'll be no sorrow there,
No more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no pain,
No more parting over there;
And forever I will be,
With the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
When no heartaches shall come,
No more clouds in the sky,
No more tears to dim the eye,
All is peace forever more,
On that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
There'll be no sorrow there,
No more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no pain,
No more parting over there;
And forever I will be,
With the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
And it gives
this Mama joy to know that the final reunion is a sure thing!
3 John 1:4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children
walk in truth.”
